What is Bellefonte Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital?

Bellefonte Hospital is a licensed psychiatric inpatient facility offering short-term mental health crisis and stabilization. With a focus on stabilization services only, patients stay on average 5 to 7 days. Once stabilized, we refer patients to appropriate resources and/or a more appropriate level of care.

Who can be treated at Bellefonte Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital?

Our certificate of need is for primary mental health. We do not treat patients with complex mental health or high medical needs. With patient safety in mind, we require patients to be medically stable prior to admission. 

The most common criteria for admission to our Bellefonte Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital will be: those suffering with: suicidal or homicidal thoughts who have a plan to end their life or the life of someone else, those experiencing psychosis or psychotic features that are so severe symptoms impair their daily living, and those experiencing major depression resulting in a significant decline in functioning.

Program Length

ARC’s program includes four phases, and people can stay in treatment for up to 12 months. We take a proactive approach to client retention.

Location

ARC purchased a portion of the former Bellefonte Hospital to reopen it as a residential facility for people with SUD.

Jobs

Within its first year of operation, the facility will create approximately 200 new, local jobs with competitive pay and benefits.

Open Date

We are working toward opening the Bellefonte facility and accepting clients in early 2024.

All ARC residential facilities have security cameras monitored 24/7 and on-site security teams. With more than 30 residential facilities across Eastern and Central Kentucky, we have identified and implemented numerous best practices to operate as safely as possible.

Our team also works closely with local law enforcement and community leaders, and we will continue to maintain open lines of communications with these stakeholders in Greenup County. ARC encourages open dialogue with our neighbors in the communities we serve. We will always do our best to answer questions and address any concerns you may have.
