Chris Whitenack spent approximately 20 years in addiction before entering recovery. At just 16, Chris faced a harrowing battle with addiction that led to over a decade of incarceration. His story took a devastating turn in 2017 with the loss of his 13-year-old daughter, plunging him into his darkest days.
Despite multiple overdoses and brushes with the law, Chris’s determination for change led him to Louisville for treatment. After initial success, he found himself slipping back into old habits. When he came to Addiction Recovery Care as a client, Chris discovered a lifeline.
“I was able to see people in recovery being successful,” Chris reflects. “I realized it was possible. And I was tired, so tired.”
Now, as the Campus Administrator at ARC’s Eagle Creek Recovery Center in Owen County, Chris oversees a dedicated staff serving roughly 300 clients — offering them the same hope and support that transformed his life.
He candidly acknowledges the challenges of recovery, emphasizing the importance of surrounding oneself with a supportive community.
