Changing their path, eight ARC clients celebrate earning their GED

Addiction Recovery Care’s mission to take people from Crisis to Career sometimes begins with secondary education. Eight men at Crown Recovery Center celebrated their success Friday during a cap and gown ceremony for earning their GEDs®.

“Today we saw highly motivated individuals in recovery take personal action,” said Pat Fogarty, Chief Operations Officer. “This group has taken the steps to change the trajectory of their life, their families lives, and their communities.”

Through Addiction Recovery Care’s partnership with Kentucky Adult Education, faculty and staff help ARC clients navigate instruction and practice tests in preparation for the ultimate goal – passing the GED® test, putting them on the path to post-secondary education. The company encourages personal and professional growth, offering and aiding in the search for second-chance employment opportunities for its graduates.

“I am personally excited to see where their journeys take them and to see the effect it has on the many who will follow in their footsteps,” added Fogarty.

Any client who needs to complete their high school equivalency education is eligible for the GED program. ARC’s case managers identify those who could benefit from the courses and work with clients who want to enroll.
