Bellefonte Hospital History
Originally opened in 1953 by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital served Greenup County and the Tri-State area for over 60 years. It grew from a 92-bed hospital into a 214-bed facility offering emergency, surgical, pediatric, and behavioral health care. After its closure in 2020, the region lost a vital healthcare resource. Now, the campus will once again carry on that legacy of compassionate care and community service.
