Recently we told you that new preliminary data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows a promising trend as overdoses appear to have declined across Kentucky and the nation each of the last three months.
According to the report, the Commonwealth has seen a slight but steady decrease in the number of estimated overdose deaths in all but one of the 12-month periods since September 2021.
Addiction Recovery Care’s Chief Administration Officer, Matt Brown, sat down with WKYT to analyze the report.
“We know what works. It’s comprehensive treatment, rapid access to care, and jobs and employment opportunities for people after treatment."
In June, Governor Andy Beshear announced the “Recovery Ready Communities” program, WKYT reports it will patients receive care at no cost. Kentucky was one of four states that were part of a study looking to identify effective intervention.
“I think the more that we spread the message that there is treatment available, the more people will seek it.”
