Johnny Perkins and his wife
How did you feel dropping off your loved one at treatment?
I was thankful that my son was getting help, and I was praying that God would somehow find a way to reach him and take away this sickness. The anxiety I had about leaving him at the treatment center subsided by entering the house at Belle Grove. After meeting and talking with the staff and other residents, I felt relieved as I walked away from my son. I had a sense of calm while driving home.
How is your loved one different since attending treatment?
I can say I have my son back. A son that I am proud of and can enjoy having conversations with. I enjoy watching him fulfill his life as the man I knew he was meant to be.
What would you tell someone dropping their loved one off at treatment?
Please don't be afraid. Have faith that God can work miracles. Know that this is the best place for your loved one. Yes, they may have struggles and want to walk away, but please encourage them to stay. The visits are a blessing. It makes the time pass quickly and also helps settle any uneasy feelings.
