How many years were you in active addiction?
15 years.
Please share a short testimony of your life from addiction to recovery.
My life in addiction was one of hopelessness and loneliness and I thought I was destined to be an addict forever. I lost everything because of my addiction-including myself. After serving time in prison, multiple stays in jail and rehabs, and several failed suicide attempts, I decided to give rehab one last try. In May of 2017, I walked through the doors of Lydia's House and that truly was the first day of the rest of my life. I was met with love and not judgment. I looked into the eyes of people who had been right where I had been and told me of a better way.
It took me losing what I thought was everything, to gain a life and so much more than I could ever imagine possible for my life.
Describe your "Aha" moment when on your journey to recovery.
My "Aha" moment came the night I realized who God truly is, what He's capable of, and the knowledge that He has a plan and purpose for my life. Surrendering my life to Him made all the difference.
